About Us
Ultimate Brownies is not solely
an Internet business. It began with Crepes Plus.
Crepes
Plus was established in Cleveland in 1997, in a small storefront of a
100-year old building, The Arcade. The owner of the business, former
pastry chef of the Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland, was inspired to open the only
creperie in Cleveland after a trip to France.
Along with a whole menu of sweet and savory crepes, she created
desserts and wedding cakes. In the summer of 1999, The Arcade closed to
make room for The Hyatt Hotel in a renovated building. Crepes Plus, forced
to move, became Cakes Plus. Now the focus of the business is entirely on
deserts and cakes for all occasions. In the summer of 2005, Cakes
Plus moved from downtown Cleveland to a west-side suburb, Rocky River,
only 15 minutes from downtown.
Among the
delicious desserts created at Cakes Plus were brownies made according to a
unique recipe using the finest ingredients. These proved to be so popular
that customers asked to have them shipped to friends and relatives out of
state and across the country. Thus started Ultimate Brownies, a subsidiary
operation of Cakes Plus.
